First date

Two years ago, the thought of conceptualizing and creating a five look collection would be completely absurd, considering I had never threaded a machine. From the second I started sewing those straight lines, I was hooked. Now, I can show my growth over what seems like the shortest two years of my life, from designing to patternmaking to construction.

My collection is “First Date” capturing the soft and romantic spring date with bright colors and floral prints, to the “loving” shapes of the hyper-feminine silhouettes. For my first collection, i was more inspired by my time being here. I wanted it to be a test to myself as a designer but as a student as well. Throughout this process, I can say I have finally found my path as a designer.

Long: Time, Length, Desire…

Through the summer, blue and pink bounce off the walls. The word long on a piece of paper, a memory to put in the mix of inspiration. I saw a blurred line between warmth and cold, sunrise and sunset. And the months to now, came a story that echoed through it all…

A young woman collapsed, fallen asleep,

wakes up between hard, cold walls,

in calm air surrounded by darkness.

The cold walls then come down,

She stands up, breaks away into a world of light and sound,

a melting of ice and a motion of warmth.

Wind: Cannot be seen, but felt…

Sometimes, when I take a walk I’ll feel a sweet breeze that I love to feel between my fingers as if it were a river passing under my hand. I wanted to capture that motion. While I envision the waves of wind passing horizontally through my fingers, I wanted to give the waves a vertical twist on the print rather than let it go side to side.

Midnight Cowboy

This collection is a mixture of traditional Western fashion, sunsets, and desert nights. The color palette is inspired by the dry and desolate landscape of the desert transitioning from sunset to midnight. My textile print, of a large celestial snake, is a representation of both the danger and beautiful mysteries that hide in these isolated places.

Midnight Cowboy is a women’s wear line that does not sacrifice comfort for fashion. Each look was designed to be worn in all kinds of situations, from everyday life to gallivanting through unexplored lands.

Retro Revival

I am a 22 year old born and raised Austinite, who’s been inspired by fashion pretty much from day one. I find a lot of confidence through clothing. I’ve always found myself drawn to vintage clothing specifically. I have been greatly inspired by the women in my family, and what the world was like before I arrived.

I knew that my first collection couldn’t be inspired by anything else, I see myself in what I’ve created. I love the vibrancy, happiness, and color palette of the 60’s and 70’s. These 5 looks really represent my personal style mixed with the amplified retro vibes that catch the eye. This collection, to me, shows that some designs are just timeless!
