Go Red Dresses
Every semester the Draping class in the Fashion Design department has a final project called “The Red Dress”. This project is planned to emphasize and encourage the fashion design student to look out into the world and find important issues that they can promote through fashion. The department selected the “Go Red for Women” as a great way to promote the importance of women’s heart health.
The project involves each student designing and creating an original red dress, with the only stipulation that it must be all red. It can be for a special occasion, a work dress or just for fun. This year we have a few great examples from our students that are currently on display in the Fashion Design Lab. The Fashion Design department continues to develop other avenues to encourage students to find causes or issues that are important to them and promote it using the voice of Fashion Design as their “words”.
